Ohio Prepares for Severe Weather with Statewide Tornado Drill
Ohio Prepares for Severe Weather with the Statewide Tornado Drill tomorrow at 9:50 a.m.
As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, Ohio is getting ready for its annual statewide tornado drill set for Wednesday, March 19, at 9:50 a.m.
This drill is all about keeping Ohioans safe as severe weather becomes more common this time of year.
Tornado sirens and mass notification systems will be activated in participating counties.
Residents, businesses, and schools are encouraged to practice their emergency plans.
Franklin County will sound its sirens for three minutes with the same tone used for actual tornado warnings.
"Being prepared is our strongest defense," said Jeffrey J. Young, Director of Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security. "We encourage everyone to stay informed, have a plan, and be ready to act."
Officials recommend building an emergency kit, creating a family communication plan, and staying informed through weather radios and mobile alerts.
Ohio is dedicated to protecting its residents and staying ready for unpredictable weather.
Stay safe, Ohio!
